Clockmaker's Let Down Key Set, Starter Set
The first step in spring clock repair is to let down the power of the mainsprings to avoid damage to yourself and the clock movement. This set includes three of the most commonly needed inserts and a plastic handle which will accommodate virtually any American clock, as well as most European clocks. Inserts are 5-6; 7-8; 10-12. These tools are used to gradually let down the power from the springs of a clock before disassembly. It is not safe for the clock or the human to try to disassemble a clock without letting off all the power. With this tool, the power just slips gradually through the user's hand, with no harm. Once all the power is dissipated, the clock can safely be disassembled. This complete set is not sold anywhere else that I know of. For the more serious clockmaker, see the complete sets we sell. Individual inserts are available in sizes 00-0; 1-2; 3-4; 9-11; 14-16; and a slotted insert that works with the original clock Key. These are $6.75 additional each, and I can include them in the box for no additional shipping.
these now come with the newer ergonomic handle. If you want any of the other insert sizes, e-mail me and I'll send a Paypal invoice
