New Haven Clock Co. "Willard" Model Weight Driven Banjo Clock
New Haven Clock Co. "Willard" Model Weight Driven Banjo Clock. 8-day time only weight driven movement. Cataloged in 1929, for $72.80 new, quite a sum at the time which explains why the clock is so hard to find today. 8” silvered brass dial. 41” x 12-1/4”. clock has not been serviced, but runs as long as it’s hung plumb on the wall. Clock is very large and heavy. It appears to be all original, and in good condition. There is a hole in the bottom bracket, but the catalog illustration does not show a finial. The clock is made very well, and exudes quality. The only condition issue that I can see is that the bottom reverse painted tablet shows a lot of flaking in the white area. It is backed up with white cardboard so white shows through.. I think it would be easy to scrape away the old white from the tablet, leaving the Mt. Vernon picture, and painting the white back in.
